Director of Deaconess Center for Child Well-Being

David Nehrt-Flores (he/him) is the Director of Deaconess Center for Child Well-Being. David comes to the Foundation from the Mobility Connection Program, an initiative of the nonprofit Ascend STL, Inc., as Outreach Coordinator.

In that role, he counseled clients and helped property owners and managers understand the benefits of the initiative. Prior to joining Ascend STL, Inc. David  served as Community Organizer for Missouri Immigrant and Refugee Advocates for four years.  In that role, he engaged community members from more than 50 member organizations to address issue-based needs and effectuate changes in local and state policy. He also facilitated, implemented, and monitored strategic planning with over 40 organizational stakeholders on the formation of a regional coalition, the Immigrant Service Provider's Network.

David is responsible for operational and constituency management for Deaconess Center and all Center-based initiatives and community events.  He is responsible for developing and implementing collaborative strategies to optimize Deaconess Center as the regional hub for strengthening alliances for child-friendly public policy, increasing citizen contact with policy makers, positioning youth and organizers to move systems and engaging faith communities in child advocacy.

David holds a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Administration from Saint Louis University. He lives in St. Louis County with is wife and children.
